The Problem

As a civil engineer, preparing material lists from drawings means repetitive manual reading, identification, and documentation. When drawings arrive as images or PDFs, pulling out the relevant materials and transferring them into a structured list takes significant time.

What I Built

An n8n workflow that accepts a drawing through Telegram, retrieves the file, analyses the image with AI vision, and passes the result to a language model that identifies the construction materials. A JavaScript step structures the output, a row is appended to Google Sheets, and the processed information is sent back to the user on Telegram, creating an end-to-end document processing flow.

The Result

A manual drawing-to-material-list process becomes an automated pipeline: upload a drawing, and the identified materials are structured, recorded in a sheet, and returned without manual data entry at each step.
